The dental crowns process in Knoxville, TN

Dental Crowns Process

Dental crowns are used on damaged, decayed, or misshapen teeth to restore them to proper form and functionality. They can also be used for cosmetic enhancements rather than porcelain veneers. If you are in the Knoxville, TN area, dental crowns from Sequoyah Dental Arts can help protect your teeth and restore beauty to your smile.

The Consultation

The first step in determining if you need a dental crown is a comprehensive examination by Dr. Foncea. The tooth will need to be evaluated to determine the severity of the issue and identify appropriate treatment options. In many cases, the decay can be treated with a small filling. In some cases, although the cavity appears small, it may have gone deep into the tooth, necessitating a crown.

Impressions

Once we determine you need a crown, we will need to prepare the tooth. Impressions are taken and will be sent off-site for custom creation of your permanent crown. In the meantime, you will be fitted with a temporary crown to protect the tooth and preserve functionality.

Placement

When the permanent crown is ready, Dr. Foncea will remove the temporary restoration and thoroughly clean the tooth. The crown will then be evaluated for the correct color, fit, and alignment. The crown will then be permanently adhered with special dental cement.

At Sequoyah Dental Arts, we know how important your smile is to you. We utilize porcelain crowns, which are strong and durable. Porcelain has many of the same characteristics of tooth enamel, making it an excellent option for natural looking restorations. Porcelain is also biocompatible with the body, making it a healthy and strong solution for your damaged tooth.

If you have a tooth or teeth that you think may require a crown, call our office today to schedule an appointment. We are happy to answer any questions you have and help determine the best solution for you. We offer our patients a variety of preventative, restorative, and cosmetic services to fit your needs.
