INVISALIGN
Convenient and Discreet Teeth Straightening with Invisalign
Do you face orthodontic issues but cringe at the thought of traditional metal braces? With the introduction of the Invisalign treatment, you may be able to avoid braces. Dr. Pablo Foncea has been a preferred provider for the Invisalign system since 2007.
If you have caught yourself considering if the Invisalign treatment is right for you, you should visit our Knoxville, Tennessee office for a consultation. Our dentists will be able to determine how much shifting your teeth need and will take a computer image of your teeth. Once these digital impressions have been taken off your top and bottom teeth, they will be sent into a lab where your clear aligners will be designed.
Once your aligners have been created, you will pick them up. The system works through a series of aligners, which you will gradually move through. You will need to wear your aligner 20-22 hours a day. Your dentist will provide details on how long you must wear each aligner before moving to the next in the series. Once treatment is completed, you will have a beautifully corrected smile.
What Conditions Can Invisalign Treat?
Being on the leading edge of orthodontic appliances, it can address many common orthodontic and dental conditions.
Over and Underbites
An overbite occurs when the top arch of teeth extends in front of the bottom teeth. Somebody with an overbite may face specific difficulties, including biting, eating, and talking. An underbite is the inverse of an overbite with the bottom teeth extending in front of the top.
Crossbite
A crossbite occurs when the patient’s top teeth are positioned within the bottom teeth. Invisalign can shift a crossbite into a more optimal position.
Open Bite
Also called a misaligned bite, an open bit can make simple tasks (such as eating) difficult. When a noticeable gap keeps the top teeth lifted above the bottom, even while the mouth is closed, you have an open bite. Invisalign can address open bites and other space issues.
Other issues Invisalign can correct include:
- Crooked Teeth
- Gapped Teeth
- Crowded Teeth
What Conditions Can Invisalign Not Correct?
No treatment can correct every dental condition. Invisalign is no different. While it can treat several issues, there are certain limitations to what can be treated. If you have some of the following dental conditions, Invisalign may not be your best option.
Severe Overbite or Underbite
When your top teeth extend over your bottom teeth (overbite) or when your bottom teeth extend over your top teeth (underbite), Invisalign can be an excellent treatment option. However, for more severe cases of over and underbites, you may need more extensive orthodontic treatment, such as traditional braces.
Rotated Teeth
When teeth become overcrowded, they can rotate in their sockets. Invisalign can be a possible treatment option for minor or moderately rotated teeth. However, if a tooth has turned more than 20 degrees, you will need to seek more extensive orthodontic options.
Large Gaps Between Teeth
Invisalign has proven to close minor/small gaps between teeth. For larger gaps, Invisalign will not be enough.
Intrusions/Extrusions
When a patient needs a tooth shifted either higher or lower in the mouth, this can be done via a procedure called an intrusion or extrusion. This situation cannot be corrected using the Invisalign transparent aligner treatment system. Traditional braces will be the best treatment option for this particular dental issue.

The Popularity of Invisalign
You only need to speak to a handful of patients who have received the Invisalign treatment to understand why it is such a loved and popular treatment option. The most common trait of Invisalign that our patients love is the fact they are nearly invisible. If somebody performs a close inspection, they may be able to see them. But at a casual glance, the Invisalign aligner is not visible, and our patients love this fact. Not only are they invisible, but Invisalign braces are also:
- Comfortable
- Easy to clean
- Conveniently removable
- No metal wires or brackets
- Affordable
