Why Invisalign is our favorite way to straighten crowded, crooked teeth for a more beautiful, healthy smile!

Invisalign Teeth Straightening System in Knoxville TN Area

Yes, Invisalign is a teeth straightening “system.” It is also our favorite way to correct crowded, crooked, or misaligned teeth. We at Sequoyah Dental Arts in Knoxville, Tennessee, can reposition teeth and correct “bad bites” without the use of conventional (“metal mouth”) braces. Invisalign® is generally more discreet, cosmetically appealing, comfortable, and faster than orthodontic treatment with braces. Plus, Invisalign® is comparable in price to braces! It doesn’t cost you a fortune to enjoy a better treatment experience.

The “magic” behind Invisalign

Conventional braces are made from silver-colored metal brackets and wires. These components are “fixed” or secured to the teeth and can only be removed by your dentist or orthodontist. Also, your dental professional must tighten and adjust the braces. So your treatment can move forward. This process requires periodic visits to the dentist’s office.

Since you cannot remove braces, there is an adjustment period. You must “relearn” how to talk, eat, and clean with your braces. Food options may be limited. Wires can also break, irritate the inside of the mouth, and require repairs. If you don’t adjust well to wearing and caring for them, your teeth and gums may be susceptible to decay and periodontal disease.

Instead of fixed, silver metal brackets and wires, Invisalign® uses a series of retainer- or nightguard-like oral appliances. These appliances, or “aligner trays,” are fitted to your mouth and are made from transparent, safe, smooth, and flexible plastic. When you slip them into your mouth, they place gentle and consistent forces on the teeth. Over time, they gradually move the teeth.

Invisalign® aligners may also be removed. You can continue to eat your favorite foods — even sticky or hard snacks are fair game! You don’t have to relearn how to speak with your aligners. In fact, most people forget they are wearing them.

You also don’t have to worry about damaging your teeth and gums. Good oral hygiene is supported throughout treatment since the aligners can be removed when brushing and flossing your teeth. Your smile is gradually enhanced, and your oral health is sustained.

The Process

Ready to move forward with Invisalign® treatment? Great! Here are a few next steps:

  • First, schedule an Invisalign® consultation
  • Second, during your consult, we will determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign or another orthodontic or dental treatment
  • Third, we will establish the exact amount of movement that is necessary to correct your condition, be it more modest spacing issues or more extensive underbite, overbite, crossbite, or open bite problems
  • Fourth, we use cutting-edge software to create a virtual simulation of your mouth and of how Invisalign® will reposition your teeth throughout the treatment
  • Fifth, this technology is also used to create each of your aligner trays. No more goopy, uncomfortable impression-taking
  • Sixth, all of this information (including your digital impressions) will be sent to Invisalign’s expert lab
  • Seventh, return to our office once your first sets of aligners are ready
  • Eighth, wear the aligners as directed by your dentist. Only remove them when eating and when cleaning your teeth and mouth. Also, be sure to wear them in the correct order. Each aligner is slightly different. It corresponds with a specific stage of treatment
  • Ninth, visit us periodically as instructed. So we can check that your treatment is progressing well. We can also provide you with the next sets of aligners to continue to move the process forward
  • Tenth, you will receive a special retainer at the end of the treatment. This retainer helps to prevent relapse (when your teeth revert back to their pre-treatment positions)

We’ll also work with you to ensure your smile remains healthy and beautiful for life. We are so confident in this treatment that at least 3 of our team members have had their smiles transformed and beautified with this revolutionary tooth straightening “system.” Experience it for yourself!
